Our standard products meet the requirements of PED 2014/68/EU
PED 2014/68/EU (Pressure Equipment Directive) is a directive of the European Union that regulates the design, manufacture, and conformity assessment of pressure equipment. It applies to equipment that can pose risks, such as explosions or hazardous leaks, if not manufactured and used correctly. The directive has been in force since July 19, 2016, and is part of the EU’s single market legislation, ensuring product safety and free movement within the EU. Our products meet the highest quality standards.
PED 2014/68/EU is a significant piece of legislation for ensuring the safety and standardization of pressure equipment in Europe. It enhances equipment safety, reduces risks, and guarantees their free movement within the internal market.
All design pressures for our standard products are calculated in accordance with EN 13480‑3.
EN 13480‑3 is part of a standard series that addresses the design and construction of industrial piping systems in Europe. More specifically, EN 13480‑3 covers the design of metallic industrial piping and sets the technical requirements for piping structures, strength calculations, and safety. The threaded pipe fittings from SH‑Teksor are rated up to PN100 for sizes up to 1 inch, up to PN64 for sizes up to 2 inches, and from there up to 4 inches at PN40.
EN 13480-3 is a critical standard for ensuring the safety and performance of industrial piping, especially in applications where piping is exposed to high pressures and temperatures, such as in the oil and gas industry, chemical industry, and power plants.
The standard thread type of our threaded pipe fittings is Whitworth pipe thread (BSP)
The Whitworth thread is an old British thread standard and forms the basis for many later standards. It is also known as BSP (British Standard Pipe thread).
Key characteristics of the Whitworth thread
Threads on our standard products are self-sealing
- G = parallel internal thread ISO 228/1 – G 1
- R = tapered external thread ISO 7/1 – R 1
Some of our products are also available with NPT threads (American Standard National Pipe Threads). For example, couplings, nipples, and weld nipples are also available as stock products with NPT threads. Please contact our sales team for more information.
